Bridge Designs

The 3Js have begun a new combined science unit focusing on testing materials and designs and building.  We started out with examining bridge designs: looking at examples and what made them weaker or stronger. Students had a lesson introducing several types of bridges, we shared our schema (a surprising amount!), and learned about some design characteristics of each.  They reinforced their learning by watching several short videos, then recorded what they learned into a chart. Next thing will be to try building several of these bridges not only testing designs, but some using and testing different materials as well. Fun fun fun!
