Memory Writing Strategy

Today students tried a writing strategy by using past memories of a person or a pet.  The strategy is:

  • brainstorm three people and write them down
  • choose one person, and brainstorm three favourite memories; write them down
  • choose one memory, and brainstorm details about the memory; write them down
  • sequence them in order
  • write brainstormed ideas into complete sentences

After Ms.J modeled the strategy with one of her own memories yesterday, the class helped her put her ideas into sentences.  Today each student went through the process of brainstorming and writing about their own memories.  Below is a slideshow and a video of students working on this great writing strategy!
