Everyone Has the Right to be Happy!

In Social Studies, the 3Js have started learning about our RIGHTS.  Last week we discussed how we all have the right to learn.  Today we talked about how everyone has the right to be happy.  After reading How Full Is Your Bucket? by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer, we brainstormed different ways we can fill each other’s buckets; help each other be happy. Students then did a turn and talk with a partner, sharing their ideas, and discussing their experiences with each.  I caught two students having a great conversation with each other.  Click on the image below to hear a sample of our thoughts about how we can fill each other’s buckets!

  1. I loved hearing you two have a rich discussion, way to go! Mercedez and Sasha, you both are very skilled at cheering others up and making people feel special. I am so proud of you two. Big hugs!!! 💜

    • I like to fill someone’s bucket by doing a random act of kindness for them. This is when you do something for someone “just because.” Sometimes it is fun to not tell them it was you who did something kind, as the point of a random act of kindness is mostly to make someone’s day. 🙂
