Schema – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Making connections is an essential skill for remembering and understanding what we read.  Yesterday the 2Js reviewed what schema is and watched as Ms.J modeled her schema to different parts of the book, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”.  Several times throughout the story, she said, “When I read <this>, I thought of <that>”.

Today, students watched a video of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with the instructions of thinking of one part that they could make a connection to.  After watching, each student drew a picture of that part from the video, then explained how they could relate to it.  Take a look at our slideshow below of our schema for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice!
