Agenda Sept.10, 2014

Practicing our addition and subtraction strategies online was our focus first thing this morning.  Students accessed their new Sumdog accounts and had tons of fun adding and subtracting and comparing numbers within a variety of different games.

In Social we reviewed what the weather is like in Iqaluit, Meteghan and Saskatoon during the different seasons.  Then we brainstormed different outfits we could wear in Iqaluit during the winter, Meteghan during the fall, and Saskatoon in the summertime.  Tomorrow we are going to take our knowledge of the weather in these 3 communities a bit farther so stay tuned…

Using our schema as a comprehension strategy took center stage this afternoon.  Yesterday we read The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and discussed schema; making connections to what we read and see.  Today we watched a video of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice while thinking about any parts we could relate to.  We drew pictures of our schema to the text and wrote about it as well.  Check out our class blog post Schema – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
