Ted Harrison/Inuit Style Art Project

After watching a video of “The Cremation of Sam McGee” by Robert W. Service (click HERE to watch the video; it’s narrated by Johnny Cash!), the 2Js created their own artwork in the style of Ted Harrison while incorporating an inukshuk that is representative of of Inuit culture.  As a class we discussed the poem with the fantastic TWIST at the end, and then focused on the style and colours of the artwork portrayed in the poem.  After seeing several more examples of artwork of this style, students set off to create their own!  Below is a slideshow of student’s work:
