Good Writers Use Detail!

In writing class today, the 2Js listened to various samples of writing; some with a little detail, and some with a lot. They closed their eyes during each sample, and all the students agreed that they could make the best picture in their minds when there was a lot of details included.
Afterwards, Ms.J gave the 2Js a sentence to add their own detail to: “I have a favourite climbing tree.” On their own white boards, each student wrote/drew one or more detail(s) so that a reader could create a better picture of their tree in his/her mind. Below is a photo of some of the different details the 2Js came up with! Doesn’t this make the climbing tree more interesting to picture in your head? Now we know that good writers write using details!
