Voice

In Balanced Literacy, one of the areas of reading we focus on is fluencyI can read smoothly like talking.  We read a book today titled The Ghost-Eye Tree by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault.  Ms. J decided that if she really tried to use her voice to match the characters’ emotions in the story, that the 2J students would better understand how they felt during the different events throughout their adventure.  Later, we did a reader’s theatre where all of the students got to experiment using their voices to show feeling.  The boys in the class played the part of the “Boy”, and the girls played the part of the (sassy) “Sister”.  Listen to how they did!
